"A NEW LIGHT" The fellowship of AA will be hosting its14th International Convention at the Porto Hydra Hotel, near Ermioni, in the Peloponnese, Greece, from 15 - 18 May 2008. THE HOTEL Situated on the east coast of the Peloponnese opposite the island of Hydra, and 10km from the small port of Ermioni, the Porto Hydra is a family–owned hotel in extensive grounds, with a variety of recreational facilities for children as well as adults, including a large swimming pool and a private European Blue Flag sandy beach. The hotel rooms are spacious; all have private bathroom, balcony, refrigerator, TV, radio, direct dial telephone, central heating and air conditioning. HOTEL PRICES PER PERSON PER NIGHT (including breakfast and evening meal) Meals for those not staying at the Hotel but who wish to eat there will, of course, be charged at the hotel's normal rates (approximately E 13.00 for breakfast and E 28.00 for dinner for non-resident guests). We have made special arrangements with the hotel that there will be no price difference between sea view rooms (can be a little noisy) and mountain view rooms (usually very quiet), so state your preference when booking. Rooms will be allocated on a first-come-first- served basis. Fruit baskets will be given to rooms booked before 15th January. Guests must pay the hotel directly upon departure, either in Euros or by Visa or Master Credit card. Please make your reservations DIRECTLY with the Athens office of the Porto Hydra Hotel. Ask for 'Reservations' and please remember to mention any special requests, e.g. smoking or non-smoking room, vegetarian, wheel chair, quiet location, room adjacent to a friend or relative, etc. Because our numbers are growing and the rooms are large, we kindly request you to share a room with a friend, if you can. When making your reservation, please mention that you will be attending the AA Convention so that the hotel staff is aware of the number of people that have reserved, and that you will be given the special rates indicated. A deposit of 50% of total price for each room is payable upon booking, by bank transfer or credit card charge, to be arranged directly with the hotel. Any room reservation not secured by the 50% deposit will be automatically cancelled after 14 days. Cancellations 11-14 days prior to arrival will be refunded 50% of deposit, and no refund for cancellations 0 - 10 days prior to arrival date. CONVENTION INFORMATION The Registration Fee is 20 Euros, payable upon registration at the convention. Meetings are in English with simultaneous translation to Greek (with headphones). Smoking is not permitted in the meeting halls. Contacts for convention information: TRAVEL INFORMATION The public airport bus runs frequently from the airport to the Port of Piraeus. Ticket price of E 3.50 includes the one way trip to or from the airport, plus 24-hour unlimited travel on all other public transport - except train to airport. The Metro line also runs from the airport to Piraeus with one change at the Syntagma station (price E 6.50). Taxis from the airport to the port cost about E 35.00 and take approximately one hour. Taxis from the airport to the hotel vary from E 150.00 to E 200.00, taking somewhere between 2 1/2 and 3 hours. The Flying Dolphin hydrofoil departs from Port of Piraeus to Ermioni at least 3 times per day. Ticket price about E 25.00 (Tel. +30.210.4199000). The last Flying Dolphin of the day departs in the early afternoon, so you need to make sure your flight arrives in Athens in plenty of time to get to Piraeus (in time) to catch the boat. Timetables will not be published until April next year, but check the Website http://www.hellenicseaways.gr where you can even book your ticket online. If there is sufficient need for a late bus from the airport to the hotel, we will arrange it. Bus Athens–Ermioni departs from bus station in Kifissou Street 100 (Tel. +30. 210.5134588 to check prices and times). The Porto Hydra Hotel mini-bus meets all Flying Dolphin
hydrofoil arrivals daily until 16:00 hrs and transports hotel
guests to the hotel free of charge. Taxis are also
available to take participants from Ermioni to the hotel. |
